Why Choose Pebble Mountain?

We travel New York State and Vermont to purchase our Black Angus cattle. We use artificial insemination on all our cattle and select the best sires from around the United States as ranked by the American Angus Association Sire Report. This results in a healthy, top quality herd.
Pebble Mountain Beef® is Beef Quality Assurance Certified. All our cattle are hand-raised and well cared for. They are vaccinated, but never receive growth hormones, steroids, antibiotics or implants. We raise our cattle on homegrown grass and finish them with grain and corn for the healthiest animals and top quality beef.
Reevie and Vicki started Pebble Mountain Beef® on the family farm in Constable, New York. Pebble Mountain is a labor of love and it is shown in the individual care the hand-fed animals receive and in the quality of the final product.
Reevie enlisted in The United States Marine Corps for five years. During his tour of duty as a Marine, Reevie was a Sergeant, Helicopter Mechanic, and a Crew Chief on CH-53-D helicopters manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. of Stratford, CT. Reevie spent five years in The Marines from 1978 to 1983 and received an Honorable Discharge when his tour of duty ended. Reevie and his wife Vicki bring the same care and attention to Pebble Mountain Beef® as he practiced in his service to The United States.
Welcome to Pebble Mountain, located in The Town of Westville, New York, in Franklin County. This farm has been in The Rockhill Family since 1868. Seven generations of The Rockhill Family have lived, farmed, worked, and played here on this special piece of ground for 151 years. Pebble Mountain is a small corner of the Earth that is full of memories, childhood dreams, farm noises, cattle sounds, and winds that seem to never cease. A place where Grandpa freely handed out nick names such as Dolly, Burtie, Jigger, Jake & Joe, Buster, and Frankie. For years I never even knew their real names. A place where Grandpa referred to everyone in the 5th generation, as little boy and little girl. We ran through the sand, the manure, and the rain. We got scratched by rusty old barbed wire and got ate up by mosquitos. In the winter we skated in the ditches. We had manure fights, played in the hay mow where some even fell out, and we chased chickens and calves. We gathered eggs, sap, apples, and herded cattle. We raised pheasants, planted trees, planted gardens, and harvested the profits of hard work. We tended the land, cut firewood, cut pulp wood, and tilled the soil. Grandma raised eight children here in a small two bedroom home, washed clothes by hand, plucked chickens, and cooked on a Home Comfort woodstove. Grandma prepared for Grange meetings, 4H, and collected taxes for the town. Pebble Mountain is a chest full of lasting memories that we treasure and share. Reevie bought this farm from his grandparents in 1984 after finishing his tour of duty in The United States Marine Corps. Reevie was a helicopter mechanic on CH-53D Sikorsky helicopters. After five years Reevie finished his tour in The Marines as a Sergeant E-5, and a crew chief. Reevie will always be proud of being a Marine and a U.S. Veteran. My wife, Vicki, joined me here at Pebble Mountain in 2007. Vicki hails from the great state of Kansas and brought with her an unparalleled passion for cows. Vicki brought her own cow collection with her, consisting of over 300 stuffed cows, ceramic cows, cow knick knacks, cow pictures, cow salt and pepper shakers, clothes, tee shirts and even her signature cow seat covers. Vicki puts in a full day’s work with me side by side, in the barn, in the fields and in the fences. A college girl, bank teller, and an insurance broker’s assistant, Vicki gave up all that for her love of cattle. Vicki is our catalyst here, I call her a cowtalyst, she brings everything together. Vicki insists the cattle are well taken care of, checks on them everyday, I walk along hand feeding the cattle and Vicki follows behind sneaking them extra feed! Today at Pebble Mountain the tradition of raising locally grown cattle on our pastures continues. Reevie & Vicki Rockhill raise registered Black Angus cows and bulls. Our grass fed cattle are raised on pasture and finished with grain and corn. We harvest our steers when they are less than 2 years old to ensure tender quality beef for our customers. We sell sides of beef, quarters, and ground beef. All of our locally owned grown steers are processed at a U.S.D.A. inspected facility. Sides of beef are sold as “hanging carcass weight” also called “hot carcass weight”. After the side has been harvested, it hangs and cures for several days. Then the side is processed and packaged for sale. Your order is custom cut and processed according to your preferences. For newcomers and seasoned customers, the processor will discuss your beef preferences and walk you through your order. Vicki & I love raising these Black Angus beauties. The Black Angus cattle are experts at turning grass into well marbled pure Black Angus beef. We have travelled all over New York State to buy top quality Black Angus cattle for our herd. We also bought some cattle from out of state. We use artificial insemination on our cattle. We choose sires from all over The United States to inseminate our cattle. This combination of top quality cows and top quality sires produces Pebble Mountain’s great tasting beef and great registered bulls for sale as herd sires. We can’t promise you the best deal in the world, but here at Pebble Mountain, we can promise you a great deal.
